WWF Oasis of Burano
A Natural Paradise in the Tuscan Maremma
A few kilometres from the Borgo Vera B&B is the WWF Oasis of Burano, one of the most fascinating nature reserves in the Tuscan Maremma. Nestled in the heart of an unspoilt landscape, this oasis offers a unique opportunity to discover the region’s typical fauna and flora through excursions and educational activities in a protected and peaceful environment. The WWF Burano Oasis is an ideal place for nature lovers and birdwatchers. Here, you can admire a wide variety of migratory birds, which stop along the coast to recover during their long journey, as well as numerous species of wildlife that inhabit the reserve. As you walk along the nature trails, you can observe several species of water birds, including the rare black-winged stilt, which finds an ideal nesting habitat in the Oasis. The area is also perfect for excursions on foot or by bicycle, thanks to the numerous paths winding through the typical Maremma vegetation. You can explore brackish lakes, wetlands and natural canals, where nature blends harmoniously with the surrounding landscape. In addition, the Oasis is the starting point for learning about the history and culture of the area, thanks to the information materials and guided activities organised by the WWF.
